Who Is this for

For families with young children under the age of 8 that have experienced an event that could be considered traumatic. Often these events include involvement with the local Police or Fire Departments.

Overview

Adverse Childhood Experience Response Team (ACERT) focuses on supporting family with young children by connecting them to resources and community agencies that can help mitigate the risk of further traumatic events.

Objective

Strengthen the parent-child bond, improve the child's emotional control and support healthy development, mitigate risk, equip family with resources for ongoing support.

Approach

Using a case management style interaction, Seacoast Youth Services provides resources, avenues for treatment, and support in seeking therapeutic relationships with community agencies. A clinician will meet with the family and assess the level of need, current barriers to treatment, and design a plan to ensure the youth in the home receive support from the community.

Clinician Backgrounds

Specialized training in trauma, early childhood development, attachment theory, trauma-focused interventions, and dyadic therapy. Common professional backgrounds include:
