For children who have been through scary or painful events such as the loss of a loved person, separation, serious medical procedures, abuse, or violence at home or in the community.
For family members who have physical health or mental health difficulties or caregivers who would like help with parenting and improving parent-child relationships.

Overview

Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) focuses on supporting family or caregiver strengths and relationships, helping families heal and grow after stressful experiences, and respecting family cultures and values.

Objective

Strengthen the parent-child bond, improve the child's emotional control and support healthy development.

Approach

A trauma-focused, attachment-based model that integrates play, talk, and relationship-building activities to help young children and their caregivers heal from stress or trauma. Therapists work with the child and parent together, using developmentally appropriate interventions, exploring emotions, strengthening attachment, and addressing the impact of past experiences on present behaviors.
